Maggie Aderin Pocock answers your questions

Last week, we asked for your questions to put to guest director Maggie Aderin Pocock. We asked her about space, the festival, and a life in science.

When will I be able to go to the moon on holiday?

Not soon enough, although I was really excited by recent SpaceX dragon mission last month. I think the with commercialisation you may get your holiday within the next 25 years

Has having children changed your desire to go into space?

Yes, and I know it would. Over the last few years I developed the idea of retiring to Mars on a one way trip. The problem is I keep pushing the plan out. Currently I will be travelling out there when I am about 85.

Where do you get your energy?

Not sure, when I am talking to people I get a real buzz, but I am often knackered afterward.

I’m a young woman about to start a physics degree. Do you have any advice for women going into this field?

Be bold and stand up for your ideas. No one is right all the time but if we don’t stand up we may never know.

What will you be going to see at Cheltenham – apart from your talks of course!

As an insomniac I am very interested in The Regenerative Power of Sleep.

As an Optical Engineer, Art Workshop: colour and Light.

Out of general interest: Population: How Many is too Many?

For an off the wall idea. Marcus Brigstocke: Marketing the Apocalypse.

Relating to my retirement plans on Mars  Ageing: How long could we live?

To name but a few….
